....in a fire?

If your drum room/studio is going up in flames, out of all the drummy stuff you currently own, what would you get out first?

And let's assume any family/pets etc have been safely removed from the place (not that many wives, cats and dogs etc usually frequent 'the drum area')

I'd probably go for my Spaun Silvervein 13x6 snare.

I have a few sweet drums but I think I would have to rescue my old supra which has been with me through decades.

Me too. Fighting my way through the smoke and flames with my hair alight, kicking expensive drums and guitars aside to rescue my 6.99 tub of moongel and escaping just as the ceiling crashes down. Then on the way to hospital with 90% burns you realise youve nothing to stick the feckin stuff on.

Brilliant!

I'd grab my cymbal case and my Highwood 14x7 snare. There's a few (potentially) irreplaceable pies in that bag and the snare is a one-off.

I'd do that too, if it's not against the rules of the thread (there may be yelling shortly)

I've got a few cymbal cases, so it'd be the one with the K Con BB and the Nolan Rogan Josh rides.

Seriously? Rogan Josh rides? *want*

The DAW hard drives with my tunes on them. Everything else I can replace.

22" Paragon Ride.

I just wouldn't play that fast in the first place.

Timeless Timber in one hand, AK Triumphal in the other.
jamoca Posted - 23/02/2012 : 18:25:58
Luddy BB in the left hand, K Constantinople Big Band ride in the right hand.

My cymbal bag - drums are easier to replace but my cymbals are far more about my sound....
Bazarre Posted - 22/02/2012 : 19:50:59
**** the drums, vintage or not: I'd save a set of traditional rivetted cases it took me three weeks of working days to make!
Chris Gravestock Posted - 22/02/2012 : 18:49:48
My 602 18" flat ride seven sound set. It looks like it's been in a fire already, and then dropped in a pond for a couple of years. But it sounds ace!

If we're widening it to music stuff in general I'd be saving my Strat. It's a really special one that plays so well I doubt I'd ever find one as nice again. And yes I'd take that over any drum stuff.

Close the door on yer way out, you heretic!!

My Roland TD-6 and amp. Why? Well, my two acoustic kits in my drum room are midrange kits I got pretty cheaply, the cymbals in there are all ok for teaching but not great for gigging, all my GOOD drum stuff is in the band van, I got the TD-6 for a song (£195) and it would cost me a hell of a lot more to replace that than the acoustic kits.

Well, either the TD-6 or my porn collection.

A pair of Premier model E sticks from the 60s in lancewood with an incredibly fine, slim taper. Absolutely nothing like modern sticks.

Again, assuming it was safe and I had time...

...My 14 x 5.75 KD Snare - which is kind of irreplacable now!

None of my stuff is irreplaceable, its great gear, but its only stuff.
drummerant Posted - 20/02/2012 : 12:50:21
I'd probably try to carry it all out, if my girlfriend was out safely I'd ask her to come and give me a hand carry some bits!
Captain Bubble Posted - 20/02/2012 : 10:17:56
Much of my stuff is irreplaceable, I would be incapable of making a rational or logical choice. Perhaps my recording gear on its trolley.

Given it was safe enough, my Pearl Customer Classic.

Me. Without my hands the drums wouldn't make much of a sound.
teethmeister Posted - 20/02/2012 : 09:40:25
I would run down the street asking if anyone else had any drums they'd like to throw on the pyre.

Only kidding.

It would be the 20" "Standard Quality" Zyn that I bought for a fiver off ebay.

And, no, I'm not kidding.

definitely not... most drum stuff is replaceable. even the stuff that isn't, there is another nice ride out there... but I would grab my imac. too much work and time and attempts at being creative have gone into logic files on there!

if I had a great mic selection that would be next in line.

I'd grab my cymbal bag that I gig with, it's got stuff in there that I'd never be able to get again.

Just one? No way, I'm going with them. That's like leaving a leg or an arm behind.

Me cymbals, and the hoops out of the ashes would have belonged to something other than Catalinas, (well, why not?)

My old Pearl Powershifter double pedal- a heavy old beast compared to some but still my favourite of all the ones I have tried. Drums come and go, the pedal always remains!
