What amp would you reccoment putting an SPD-S through as a monitor? Keyboard / Bass? It's for that Dubai gig again. I'll have a wedge monitor but the MD doesnt trust it to be just therough there and wants me to have a seperate monitor for it.

These are not bad at all for a nice compact fairly light solution.

I'm no expert but I'd have thought something like this would do the job

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laney-AH200-165watt-Keyboard-E-Drum-Amplifier-/360439539911?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL&hash=item53ebdee8c7

Pleanty of power to be heard over the backline at your rehersals and the kickback cab makes it ideal for a monitor without having to resort to a balancing act with a normal type cab.
They do a smaller 50w version if you only really need the monitoring side of things.

No idea on wattages and such like I'm afraid.
thebeaver Posted - 10/03/2012 : 17:15:50
Aww bless ya tryin to save me the pennies! Nope, I just say the word and they'll get it. To you have enough techy knowledge to give me like a size to suggest? I wouldnt even know what it would be measured in but presumably something like "a ### watt keyboard amp".

Just trying to figure out exactly what I should tell them, making me seem as little like a t!t as possible (e.g. Uuuuuh... a medium one?!)

Oh! I thought you'd be shelling out cash. A keyboard amp would probably be the one to go for.
thebeaver Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:39:20
No PA for band call, it's really no big deal for me to get one, its not gonna cost me, the production company is hiring me whatever amp I tell them I need and I'd rather have one to be safe as it's no extra hassell for me. I just need to let the production staff know what I'll be needing asap, and I dont know what to say.

Ah, good point. Will there not be a PA at the rehearsal? Is there a keyboard player? What will they be using?
thebeaver Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:28:37
Rest of band need to hear it too, especially in rehearsal
Prog Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:14:36
Headphones?
thebeaver Posted - 10/03/2012 : 16:13:54
And also as MD has just pointed out to me we have four days band rehearsal out there not in the theatre so need to be able to hear it then!
thebeaver Posted - 10/03/2012 : 13:37:44
Let's say, those moments where the sound guy "absolutly didnt touch it, no way did I move the levels" but it somehow mysteriously dissapears from your mix...

Could be desasterous if Im hitting the wrong pad and dont know about it!
Prog Posted - 10/03/2012 : 13:04:39
Why does it need a separate monitor?
