Has anyone else noticed how much comply tips wear down to the point of almost uselessness? Over the last few weeks I had been using them every night and thought they were slowly losing a little bit of quality. They no longer felt so resilient and last night halfway through the show I had enough, I was certain they were blocking out next to no sound anymore, so I ripped em off and put the standard plastic ones that came with my shure E2s back on, and the difference was amazing.
Don't get me wrong, I remember the first time I used them they were fantastic, and looking at it, they sell them in packs of three so they obviously know they have a limited lifespan. But I'm gonna ditch them when this pack runs out. Not worth spending £20 on a new set every couple of months - and its like, one more hassel I dont want on the list of little maintenance jobs! |

Well, decent customer service for you I'm pleased to report! Someone at comply has presumably seen this thread and they contacted me this morning saying they were sorry that I'd had a bad experience and wanted to offer me %25 off my next two comply purchases.
Thats just lovely that they get on top of things like this off their own back. Good stuff. I think I'll take them up on the kind offer TBH - as I said, they are brilliant to start with, and with my new vouchers that's a pretty reasonable cost! |

Make sure your ears are good and clean. A little wax is not a problem, but if it looks like a rodent has crapped in your ear they won't be able to do the impressions. |

I went for the SE-115CL, which is the next generation in the evolutionary line from the E2C then SCL-2, as the limiter in the body pack is calibrated for that range. They're decent enough, and anything else would probably be wasted on my tinnitus. The SE-215 is probably the next range up - the old E3 or something, perhaps?
Used them at a function band rehearsal today, monitoring the room using my H2 (sat on the table next to the mixer on my left) using the COMP3 compression setting. Liking this set-up a lot.
Lead time on moulds at ACS (at least if you're not dropping 600 quid on T1 Lives) is not great right now. I was promised 14 working days and it took 28 before I had them in my hand (or in my ear, more to the point). |

Moose, what Shures' are you using now? My Ultimate Ears have finally given up so I'm going back to Shure. Been look at the SE215-CL - seem pretty good for £75 - going to get some ACS molds made this time too. Are the SE215s' the E2C's? I can't keep up with the name changes!
And Beaver, yep, I've noticed the Comply tips don't last. They're proper comfy dont get me wrong, but I have to chuck them every couple of months which is getting expensive! |

If you open your mouth, the shape of your ear canal changes slightly. Assuming you had the impressions done with your mouth shut, this can reduce the seal and therefore the isolation briefly. Singing drummers are often advised to have the impressions taken with their mouth open. |

More sentitive to jaw position than expandable plugs (such as foam ones like the Comply, or Christmas trees like the Alpine or ER20), which can lead to the odd surprise. The isolation and comfort are excellent. |

I wanted to keep the Shure in-ears, as the limiter for my belt pack is calibrated for Shure drivers. And, frankly, I'm quite happy with the sound quality from them.
I have tried the moulds since they arrived, but just to listen to music and do crude tests of isolation. The isolation is definitely markedly superior. One can therefore hear detail in the signal that was previously not audible above ambient (as obviously the quality of the drivers is constant).

they're around £90, but if you looks on the Boots (The chemist) website and join the hearing club you can get them cheaper around £75 IRRC.
I'm waiting for Moose's report on them and suspect I'll gt a set for my Westone UM2's |

I would like to take a step like that, but I already have ACS custom moulds as plugs, not phones - so I'm not sure whether to kit out my shures like that or get those ACS T15s which I believe will attatch right into my plugs? |

I've just had custom sleeves made by ACS for my Shure in-ears. Not because of concerns with the Comply tips, but for fit, resistance to them being pulled out mid-song, and for cost-effectiveness. Gig them for the first time this weekend. |
