No big deal there, of course. It was TGLM's Rover 75, and to MOT it would have cost more than the car was worth to us. First guy to phone ended up buying it, we got a fair price, job done.

I got an email, though, from someone asking if I would be interested in swapping it for a small motorbike. He was quite serious. What would lead anyone to assume that I might want to swap a limo spec car (admittedly in need of a bit of undercarriage work) for a feckin' baby motorbike?

I bought Mrs Jamoca an older Ford Ka recently. Very good for a learner - apart from cheap insurance, the driving experience is fairly raw - weighty steering, squidgy brakes and fairly hard-biting clutch. You lose that with a lot of small cars you get today.

Ah, in that case you need an Austin J40 like the one I was asked to restore (but declined):

We'll be downsizing to something pocket-sized. One of the Baronets Mully will be learning to drive.
