Guys

Just to let you know that if anyone is looking for a weekend's drumming course then Drumbreaks - 28th/29th July at Quad Studios in Leicester - is something you should look at. Its being led by James Hester and Tim Brown who we all know well. I went to the first one and the venue and facilities are top class and the teaching excellent

The focus this year looks as though it will be on bridging the gap between playing drums and playing music. There will be a bass player or two in attendance, an opportunity to record parts and a Stephen Gilchrist (Lightening Seeds, Graham Coxon) masterclass.

Its a good short alternative to the week long courses.

I might see you there

I'm very interested in attending but worried I'll be the dunce in the corner of the class all weekend as I'm not a technical player (though I read and transcribe to a good standard and can knock out rock/pop covers to a decent standard....so I've been told)

It'll be just right for you - as with all the drum courses, drummers are the most generous of all musicians with their time and tips.

Also you sound just like me and I'll be there

If I can get a dep to cover a gig on 28th I'm there....albeit I will be the one sobbing into a stick bag in the corner at the mere mention of a metric modulation.

The problem we're having is finding the facilites at a price that won't put it out of being cost effective. Bob at Quad is incredibly nice and gives us a great deal.

Where, north of the border would you suggest, Marty - where should we be looking? Logic - drop me a line.

YHM, squire.

You've experienced me?? That sounds horrific, I'm truly sorry about that...!!

Thanks for the props fellas - really good of you!

Having missed out on my annual RhythmFest fix for the last two or three years (*sob*), this looked pretty good to me ... until I realised that I'll be in Cyprus and Germany that weekend ... boo !!

Having experienced both James and Tim, I would urge anybody even vaguely thinking about this to damn the torpedoes and do it ! I've seen James, for instance, work very successfully with a largish group which ranged from a teenaged beginner through to grizzled old semi-pros - both he and Tim will do their utmost to provide for your drumming needs whatever your age, experience or playing ability ... go on, you know you want to !!

OK, if I can find my thinking cap I will put it on and have a wee think.

We're looking at Nov/Dec in Leics, mate.

The student numbers depend on the overheads - the cost of the facilities is the first critical part of the budget for us to get. Usually we do about 10 students though. A rehearsal room - possibly with recording facilities - is what we're after?

Thanks mate!

Hi James, as to doing a course up here in the frozen norf: Hmm, tough to know where best to do it, how many students would you be looking to have attend?

You got more Leicester dates planned for later in the year?

theslingerland Posted - 16/04/2012 : 21:15:21
No - absolutely not at all!

It's about getting you to omprove -wherever you're at, the level is about howfar you take it - we can start at what ever level you come in at, Dibs!

The dates clash with gigs for me. Having done some study before with both James and Tim I KNOW this course will be good. Hopefuly the next dates they do will be better for me and possibly even a bit more up norther...
