Just curious as to how many are using smaller 18" rides?

I picked up a nice vintage 18" UFIP cymbal yesterday in an excellent condition. Most of the top print has almost gone, so I am not 100% sure if it was listed as a ride or a crash ride, but it sounds very nice used as either.

Going to try it with a band tonight, but I was wondering if many here use an 18" as their main or a secondary ride?

I'm riding on a Super Zyn 16" on a small kit at the moment. It has a low enough fundamental growl and plenty of wash as well as a pleasant ping. Obviously highly crashable too.

I have several 18" Super Zyns too that make very different, interesting rides.

Wish I'd never sold mine, excellent cymbal.

I regularly use just an 18" Istanbul Agop Mel Lewis Crash/Ride along with a pair of hihats for gigs and rehearsals.

My main ride in my covers/blues rock band is an 18 K crash/ride. I decided to use this 'smaller' size when I play with two toms on the bass drum and, to be honest, in that band much of the time I'm playing on the hats, anyway. I also have an 18 pre-aged ride that comes out for jazz gigs, though for them, I prefer the overall sound of a 20. Guess it's all down to personal taste.

As a secondary ride sometimes, more typically a 19" for smaller venues.
