We have them on our estate all the time and I feel really sorry for the horses. Te problem is in becoming more desensitised with the feeling for the horse and the traveller every day, now I just drive past them as I normally drive when once I used to take care I just don't have the time to mess around waiting for them to do there own thing in there own time

The law should have more powers with travellers instead of this softly softly approach

Due to their total disrespect for anyone not in their 'community'they suffer the same disrespect towards themselves.

They only take and do not contribute a penny to society.

Tranquiliser dart is the solution.

Right in the head of the jockey....

I'm sorry, that's ridiculous. They are quite happy for you to race, on your own land, safely. They aren't stopping you, and why should they provide you land for free? Ridiculous.

I have nowhere to practice my drums, so the council better provide me with a nice soundproof studio or else I'm setting up on the M1.

Love it!

That being said I wonder what the mortality rate for horses is compared to the Grand National. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan, but I think judging it on "cruelty to horses" when mainstream culture has it's own, legal and respectable entertainment that puts horses in danger is a little ironic.

well you're correct in it's appalling that animals die in horse racing i don't think you can compare the two in terms of 'cruelty'. Race horses cost £20,000 a year to look after and they're treated incredibly well. I have a feeling the horse in this example are seen in a completely different way.

a male in his 20's was arrested and subsequently released pending further investigations.

do you think he is bothered?

tbh i dont like them just because they are a law to themselves and use this to full advantage.

I remember being stood outside at a garage waiting to pay at 1am in the morning for 35 mins while 4 gypsy guys were **** around with the cashier. poor lass didnt know what to do and when anyone in the que said something they just got confrontational.

they have a bad name. they have only themselves to blame. however i dont think it bothers them. in fact i think they thrive off it.

The police should confiscate the horse and carriages and any vehicles used as a road block.

Forget a ticket and a warning.

They defy the law as the police are scared to get involved.

They own enough land that they can tarmac and race on.

Utter TWUNTS !

The horses must have been so confused and scared ... makes me sick ... to55ers.

Indeed, for their selfish pleasure they thoughtlessly terrorised the horses and put them in extreme danger, as well as other road users.

Mad! I saw a BBC 'Storyville' documentary recently about traveller fights, bareknuckle boxing. The fights were actually a lot more civilised and 'gentlemanly' than I'd expected but anyway, aswell as family honour there was major money to be won, one of the fights had a £60K purse!!! I daresay there's a few quid involved in the horse & trap racing too!

Why not just rent one of the old RAF stations in the area and use the runways and taxiways?

Oh, I forgot, that would then make it legal.....

.....and wheres the fun in that for a traveller.

I've known them all my life and I've yet to see or hear of even one of them do anything legal.
Everything they do is for gain...even within their own circle.
Theres a buck to be made and they're going to make it.
But FFS don't make it legal.

Can't abide the workshy grabbing wnakers.
They give Irish people a bad name.

that said, it was me who posted it.....fool that I am.
