Nice kit, interesting and overlooked gear I think - I love that finish. I think RM did several versions of these kits. I had one last year in that finish with an 8 lug bass hi tom and floor with cast hoops top and bottom. There was also a 6 lug bass and I think yours is the 'club' The snares had some sort of parrallel action I think and never seem to survive ! I sold mine to my drum teacher so I could probably get some pics if anyones interested.
nice one man, lets see some pics |

From whaty my old eyes can see the kit looks very much original, even that little cymbal support on the bass drum is RM,but I can't make out the lugs on the tom,the bass drum hoops have a painted middle (if you know what i mean) and chances are faded, clip on bass drum spurs would have been used so its common to see premier disapearing spurs.
its a really nice unuaual find
No worries mate, will do.I will have to sort out a delivery address first.i usally have all my stuff sent around my parents house but they have gone away for three weeks and if i get this sent to my girlfriends she won't be happy. She reakons i send more time with my drums than with her. |

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 23:27:00 Just used a hole punch set and a bit of spare wrap Mr PP, easy job. It helped that the RM lugs on the bass were single point fixings. More area to deceive the eye. Wood, trees etc...

Good Evening, The RM was exactly the same as yours when I received it Mr PP (ie utterly original), it's now more of a wretschmorris. I "customised" it as they say, pimped even in the modern parlance. Converted to double headed, stripped BD hoops. FT now 8 lug, BD now 8 lug. Old Tama tom plate, diamond leg brackets etc... Removed parts went to a fellow member here, they being far more conscientious than me dare I say. I would love to find a 12 in this wrap to give the same treatment.

Lovely job.how did you fill the holes on the wrap when you converted it from 6 to 8 lug? |

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 19:19:36 I have no idea what kind of quality the kit was-I just wanted some drums and they were all i could afford at the time.If Im honest-i felt a bit ashamed of it with its little sizes and Ringo-esque wrap (I hated the Beatles) but it was ok to start playing on.I moved onto an Olympic about two years later which,to me,seemed like it was a lot more pro!! Id be interested in a bit more info on these kits too.I always imagined they were kind of from early sixties but i really have no idea!! |

Hi D.C I spoke to the seller in breaf and he said he bought the kit about 3years ago on the streaght of him having one when he first started playing drums. He said he had had it set up in the corner of his shop but had to get rid of it because he needed the room. Bye the sound of it these drums were popular with rookie drummers, were these drums the equivient of the Olympic brand? Thanks martin |

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 17:28:10 Hi all Thanks for the heads up on the snare but it is not totally original other wise i might have had a punt on it. Spart your R M kit looks fantastic.Could you tell me if your toms were single headed when you acquired them and should my floor tom hoop be cast? I am a premier man really so if anything looks none original on the R M drums please let me know.I did have a quick look at a cataloge on line and i am sure the lugs on the mounted tom are correct. Thanking all Martin |

Posted - 14/05/2012 : 15:33:24 Good Afternoon, Nice one Mr PP, I had one of those from Mr Teethmeister Snr last year. Lovely shells (birch on mine) and a beautiful wrap. Here's what I did with it:

I believe there is a matching snare on ebay as of now...
