I have put an ad in the classifieds, as I am very interested in finding me 505īs in the following sizes: 20", preferably crash, 22" Ride, and possibly a 14/15" crash and a 10" Splash.

Fair prices paid for good examples!

They look nice!

I use my 505 medium hat (Green Label) with a 2002 Sound Edge bottom - gives a nice "Chick" when pedalled and brigtens the whole plot a little, incredibly crisp hat.

Not as Sploshy as the 505s as a set, but still not harsh at all.

Some 14" black label Hi Hats on ebay at the moment that aren't broken

No, it was the 13" hats.

I have a 22" Ride - now, a 22" Crash would be something.

14" Hat, 16, 18 and 20" Crashes - 20" Ride and China?

Jon

A pic of my set of 5o5 pies here: http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s409/RogueFrequency/AssKicker11.jpg - would swap my green label 20" heavy ride for a green label 22" though ;)

thanks for the heads up Jon, I should be selling not buying, but I can't resist bronze!!
Jon Petersen Posted - 23/05/2012 : 00:41:33
Thereīs a seemingly nice 22" Medium Ride on german ebay:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Paiste-Becken-505-Medium-Ride-22-Zoll-/160801551774?pt=Drums_Percussion&hash=item257084f59e

I have always had an easy time dealing with germans - they donīt mind shipping.

Jon Petersen Posted - 23/05/2012 : 00:32:42
I have a 20" 505, also a Black Label - nice cymbal, highly recommended.

Jon
paiste Posted - 22/05/2012 : 12:10:02
Due to the recent aquisition of a 20" 2002 crash, my black label 20" crash is now surplus to requirements. Obviously not selling on here, but will list on ebay and FB buying and selling drums page.
Hope this doesn't contravine rules and regs:)Mods, feel free to delete if it does!

I was in The Northern Drum Centre in Bradford today and they definitely have at least one 505 in there. Meant to check what it was and whether there were any more before I left but got sidetracked by a phone call. sorry

Ahhh, its amazing how many of the cymbals you see around on ebay and other sites belong to mikedolbear members!
DougTheDrum Posted - 03/05/2012 : 15:20:24
Hey Stuart - that was actually mine, it has sold and I got Ģ70 for it in the end. I deleted the ad on Gumtree but that system doesn't appear to work which is very annoying!

My 20" green label China sold a couple of weeks back for Ģ70, which I thought was about the right money.
drummerNick Posted - 01/05/2012 : 21:38:50
I picked this up the other day at what seemed an ok price. I have far too many cymbals already but couldn't resist

I completely understand the thin thing. I am selling off all my Zildjian Ks having replaced them with Constantinoples' I love thin cymbals
Jon Petersen Posted - 09/04/2012 : 14:29:47
The 18" China is the only one I consider selling. 2 rivets mounted by me.

OK cymbal, but not really thin enough for my taste.

Anyone on here bag the 18" china from eBay last night? I had a cheeky very bargain bid but just missed out
Jon Petersen Posted - 06/04/2012 : 12:54:27
Yes, thatīs a nice cymbal.

My haunt for 505s are just about over, only 8 & 10" splashes to go, and I have a lot patience for them, no hurry at all. AND a 22" Crash if ever I find one - I never heard from the buyer of the Premier kit with the two 22" 505s, so presumably he is happy with them.

Jon
drummerNick Posted - 06/04/2012 : 12:19:05
I have just got a mint condition 505 12" Splash, it's really nice, explosive and fast and a lot louder than a B20. very pleased with it
Jon Petersen Posted - 24/03/2012 : 13:46:55
The 22" Ride is fine - it is just that the 20" Crash is very fine!

Yes, I think the Ride will grow on me, I am going to keep it.

Jon

Hi Jon,

I haven't had the time to watch the forum for a while now, so I read your post about the 22" Crash just a few minutes ago. Wow. As you surely can imagine, I'm hot for this, too, and I can't believe all this stuff was sold for only 200 quid...
Of course, I will not take any action, it's your turn, but if there will be any outcome to your attempt of contacting the buyer and you find you don't like it, please give me a note and let me know! ;-)

It's kind of funny, the seller of the 22" Ride (the link I sent you) is now offering a 20" Crash, too... This would have been your man, wouldn't he...? ;-)

I hope you enjoy your 'new' toys as much as I enjoy mine! :-) You didn't sound like you fell in love with the 22" Ride, did you? I fell in love with mine the very first time I hit it with a stick, and I knew immediately that I shouldn't have imported the 22" Heavy Ride from the US for more than 200 Dollars...

;-)

Best wishes!

Maik

I received the 22" Ride today - a bit heavier at 2940 grammes than I thought it would be, but still a nice, relatively light cymbal.

The 20" Crash - my biggest crash ever, and thin at 1780 grammes - is really nice, very much recommended.

I wrote the seller of the the Premier kit including two 22" 505s - a Crash and a Ride - and asked him to pass on my email to the new owner, as I am interested in the cymbals, at least in the Crash. A 22" Crash sounds - hefty?!

So, letīs see.

The 20" Crash from Heiko came today - black label, almost like new. Very nice, and quite light at 1780 g.

Next week - arrival of 22" Ride!

No-one in here interested in buying this:

- and selling me the 22" Crash for Ģ100 + postage?

Congrats!!! I think it's even more fun to have such a nice cymbal if you know it didn't cost you a fortune. Let me know how you like it and how it integrates into your setup with all these Thin Crashes.
BTW: I read you have an MX from '84. Very nice! My set is a Professional DX from the same period :-) I'm absolutely in love with it, especially with its original M514-D Snare. Usually, I'm not the biggest fan of steel snares, but this one is just the one for me! Do you play the original snare, too?
Ok, no more snare talk in a 505 thread... ;-)

Bye.
Maik
