Took 3 of the kids (more like hairy @rsed fellas now) to see Coldplay last week. Great show, and in the pouring rain too. Best thing the kids have ever seen according to them, and they have seen a few bands over the last few years, including Take That, Westlife, Olly Murs. I thought Chris Martin had a unique voice, but not the best i've heard.
That accolade goes to Daniel Bedingdield at the City Hall, Newcastle. Best live vocals i've ever heard. Olly Murs was pretty good but nowhere near. Who's yours? Not band, just vocalist, although lead singers in bands count. I may try and catch them.

I worked with La Mari de Chambao both drumming and on the tech side in Spain. She is amazing live on stage, but at her best singing round the house. I have never heard vocal control so good |

Alas, I never got to see two of my favourite voices - Marvin Gaye and Roberta Flack - but of those I've seen live, Van Morrison in his heyday was absolutely mesmerising, Tony Bennett was amazing, Phil Lynott, while not a truly great singer, had great phrasing and massive presence on stage, the boy Mercury could certainly carry a tune, and Paul Carrack can pretty much do no wrong. And of those I haven't seen live, Paul Rodgers. Best British rock/blues singer ever, there's no-one to touch him.

Randy Crawford (Same tour as Josh went)
Mica Paris - Went to see her again at a small venue in Kendel last week, she has a fantastic voice.
Beverley Knight - Seen her three times nails it everytime and he stuf aint easy to sing.

Most of the bands I'm into and have seen live don't have truly brilliant singers, best I've probably heard was Martin Rossiter of Gene, who had/has a fabulous voice. I was also really impressed by Roger Daltrey but that was probably more to do with being a great singer/frontman than any truly virtuoso vocals.
but, I took Mrs T25 to see Beverley Knight a few years ago, it was more the missus' gig than mine to be honest but I was blown away by Bev's vocals! |

Saw that, but he was spot on when i saw him the next night at the Metro Arena. Not my favourite artist (wife dragged me along) but have to admit i was quietly impressed by his work rate and show.
Some interesting choices so far, most of them have been premier league singers for decades, so just shows the cream normally rises to the top and stays there. However i've been disappointed by a few, but i could put some of that down to sound guys with no ears. Level42, Journey (not Steve perry), Ronan Keating to name a few have been crucified by cr@p sound guys who should of been shot. It's funny how even though i knew it was a rubbish sound i couldn't think past it, and thought less of the vocalist. Shame on me i suppose.
Forgot to mention, Bryan Adams is pretty consistent.

I used to work for Daniel Bedingfield and I concur that he has one great voice whether you like his songs or not?
Two of my live favourites are Tim Howar and Roachford twin frontmen of Mike & The Mechanics.Roachford has been a favourite of mine for years and I never tire of his vocals.He should have been a huge star.
They sing great live or studio without too much twiddling or effects.
