you re very welcome... it's funny how the outcome of it is very obvious but the concept behind
it it's hard to grasp sometimes... this is what i love about music though!

Enjoyed that! Might be interesting to explain the concept behind the solo either before or after playing. Hum the part, explain, etc. Thanks for sharing!

Oh Yes! i'll do a series of vids with the concepts explained!
Thank you!

Yes, very nice playing, I liked it.
However, excuse me for being thick but I couldn't tell what the "one idea" was. Can you enlighten me?

Thank you for asking!

the solo based exclusively on end of 2 tied to the end of 3 stress points, like a bass vamp. that is all i have in my head for the entire improvisation, nothing else. ( those two notes correspond to the bass drum hits at the beginning of the groove). I am basically letting those 2 notes drive me wherever they bring be, there is no conscious succession of crazy licks or anything like that. The important thing to do here is to give to those 2 notes actual musical pitches and have them playing in your head the whole time ( even when you're not actually playing those hits on the drums). It's a matter of patience and focus but if you manage to stay in there, whatever you re gonna do is going to have musical sense, connection between the ideas and form. Also everything revolves around 8 bar cycles ( very clear at the beginning, a bit less clear thowards the end cause i play over the barline more and more.
I hope this helps!.

Classy and musical. I didn't notice him flip the snares on.

I'm sure Neil Peart builds his solos around a simple idea, but rarely as beautiful as this clip.
