Hi all
I've got a Roc n soc seat which is great, but the base is crap..It's a custom percussion.
I seem to remember a discussion on here a while back about this, and suggestions about a good base.. What was it, because I need to get one before I throw the CP base out of the window !
Any help appreciated |

I just sold one with a Roc'n'Soc base that was very solid. I have another one with a Gibraltar bae that seems pretty good, too.

What's your problem with the base? I've got the same and it's ok (apart from trapping my finger in it last weekend and slicing out a chunk!) |

I have the CP one, too. It is terrible at high heights (and I'm tall...), and rocks whenever you move your weight. It also rotates about 30 degrees each way even when tightened up... Ridiculous!
This: http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=detail&mid=1170&sid=161&cid=37 is the much better Gibraltar one! |

Another vote for the Gibraltar base.
Still, now you mention it, the metal bracket on the Roc n Soc seat is crap- the bolt always works loose immediately. It's nothing like as good as my old (ahem) Pearl throne, which had a proper clamp type arrangement. |

Find a tom memory clamp( I use a Pearl one) that fits the spiral tube thing. That will stop your descent |

| I think the previous post was my post about the base, I was advised to get a gibraltar base and it's great. |

I'm not sure if its compatible with the roc n soc seat, but the best base I have ever used is the Pearl D1000sp with the shock absorber thingy.
100% rock solid and stable, no wobbles when tightened, and the extra 'give' from the suspension thingy is excellent (particularly for anyone who suffers back pains such as myself)....imho much better than using a soft seat. I have owned mine for 4+ years and it still feels/works like new.
I've often thought that the Pearl base and Roc n Soc would be a brilliant combination... the ultimate drum throne! |
