Gareth will say no. Noonan will say it's good to have the option. |

| My FVF had no vent holes on the toms. Sounded great, however, if u leave ur drums in the car on a hot day the heads bulge as the air inside the drum heats and expands. Then u have to take the heads off to release the pressure. Annoying. So i say vent, i use a 1/2" flat bladed hole cutter, works for the threaded vents a treat. |

I was going to say that the vent hole is to allow for variations in atmospheric pressure but I didn't because I thought people would tell me I'm talking out of my ar$e. Yes, 1/2 inch or 12 or 13mm should be ok. |

was this an acrylic?
we have never had this on our wood drums, but there is a reason for this... ours are vented, we just dont but bloody big air holes in most of ours.
BTW you should NEVER leave any drums in the car on a hot day.... for any reason... same with Dogs.

| It was acrylic. Unfortunately, sometimes its a needs must thing with leaving them, they are only drums at the end of the day. A living thing is a bit different :) |

that explains it, wood, unless 100% sealed.. breathes, where as an acrylic drum can become airtight depending on what fittings are used... all acrylic drums need venting. |
