OK - finishing off my 12x5 snare. Used double sided tape for the wrap. Theres a slight overlap. What glue would you guys recommend?

Contact adhesive is the best I find, but would probably be more suitable doing the whole thing with it rather than just the overlap... might be OK mixing with tape, never tried it. It's not the most forgiving stuff and has to be used in a certain way for good results... maybe someone else has a better option for a first go?

Contact adhesive is the best way, there's no getting the wrap off in one piece once its on with this stuff!

For a snare it will be ok to just contact adhesive the seam as the hardware will hold the wrap on fine. On bigger drums you may find bubbles or gaps where the wrap has lifted off the tape a bit.

Double-sided tape is NOT strong enough for thick coatings, like Delmar Glass Glitter.

I know from experience....It was a mess lifting the coating enough to get space to work in order to remove the tape, and then glueing. The overlaps MUST be glued, and preferably scratch the very glossy surface with coarse sanding paper to help the glue bond.

This one has been recommended to me too:

Note, that is HAS to be the Flex-type - coatings has to be allowed to move a little when heated/cooled.

Also very good for repairs of loosening overlaps.

I use old-fashioned contact glue, solvent based and all.

Jon

I TRY to tell myself I already have what I want.....
