I watched what I could catch of Lionel Ritchie at the BBC last night and Ian Thomas was on a fair few clips. His playing was, well, perfect. Timing, feel, dynamics, taste...the lot. It reminded me of a clip I saw of him backing David Sanbourn - flawless. It reminded of what I want to aspire to and cemented why he's, at least for me, one of the top 3 session players in the country.

That is all.

I first saw him when he was playing with Seal many years ago. Does some fantastic stuff. He also had a gig drumming at a Fender guitar celebration with a stellar line of banjoists. Did he have a health issue recently?

I think that was the Strat Pack - brilliant concert.

I think Ian had a heart scare, recently. He's back on the ball now, thought, backing the house band for The Voice, I believe.
