With a bit of work that would make a VERY nice snare for the money, not too common either, surprised it did not fetch a bit more. Wonder if someone here got it.

No, I put in a un-decent low bid in a vain hope the pitting would put people off.

The shell would certainly look better if it was stripped and re-lacquered, not too difficult or expensive, and I reckon the chrome is more dirty than pitted from what I can make out, so Autosol or wire wool and oil would probably be all that's needed there. I think it is a fashion thing, Aluminium shells are popular at present, and those people who do like brass shells seem to go for deep shelled heavy metal styles.

Oooo that's a 21. I had one for a few years and they are very nice indeed.

Yes a 21 although the earlier version was a brass shell and chromed apart from the centre bead.

To my amazement i found one in one of the rehearsal rooms that we use and although it needs tlc it sounds great. The shell has a good few dents, strainer stuck in the on position, snare wires held on with wire and heads well and truely past their best but as i said it sounds superb!

Resonators and Ufips....just beautiful. www.vintageolympic.co.uk

Rotocasting is definitely the pinnacle of cymbal manufacture!
