I am driving to France in a couple weeks time. A bit embarrassing, but I can't remember which one of you said you could help me put together a spare bulb kit for the car!

If one of you still can, can you please let me know? It would be awesomely appreciated - and just in case it doesn't go without saying, I'm not expecting a freebie here!

Thanks.

You know it's now mandatory to carry a breathalyzer in France, Josh?

I used Autobulbs direct for all my ... er ... auto bulbs needs.

Yes, I know - just that they are extortionate, I'd rather support the business of a fellow drummer, and this is a follow on from a conversation I've had with one of the above gents (albeit I cannot remember which one it was with ).

Yep, got two of those in the car, but AFAIK they're not mandatory until July! Also sorted out the high-visibility jackets and headlamp reflectors.

Will order from them early next week if Mick or young Rokkit can't help - eBay also appear to have bulb kits for sale.

They can really add up in places like Halfords - they put it in their packaging and mark it up massively.

Also thought it'd be good to rekindle an old conversation. Now I remember, it was Mick telling me that in a nice pub in Dublin.

Under NO circumstances go to Halfords.........huge markups on everything, by far the dearest place for car parts.

Your local small Motor Factors are MUCH cheaper.

Neolux bulbs are fine, Hella (where I am until 5th May, new job soon) are a bit dearer. Let me know what you are driving and i'll see what I can find in the spares box.

Have some Hella (+90%) H7 headlight bulbs I can send you for starters.

Not sure which is France and which is Germany / continental Europe general but you need:

Full spare set of bulbs
Beam deflectors on your headlights
GB sticker on the back of the car
Breathalyzer (after June)
Hazard Triangle
Hi-viz vest or jacket
First Aid Kit
Second / spare pair of glasses, if you wear them to drive.

These must ALL be in the front of the car, easily accessible, not buried in the boot.

Also, in Germany at least, if there is a chance of snow or ice you must have winter tires on the car, not normal ones.

In France, if you have a sat-nav, it must have the speed camera warnings removed or disabled.

Have fun!

After Mick's parcel arrives I will have all of those items, granted I will need three glove boxes to carry them all!
