I first heard these mentioned here a while back. I have various brushes, metal, plastic and several of my own specials, but my early 70s Premier ball end retractables and my late 70s Tama ones with ribbed handles (for maximum pleasure) are getting on a bit, and one of the Tamas disintegrated recently; I have repaired it, but fancied trying out some new Wincents.

Interestingly Wincent do three wire thicknesses, I went for the 29 lightweights, which are exactly the same fine gauge as my Tamas, nice and swishy. Wincent's Medium are exactly the same gauge as my old Prems, and their thicker ones are presumably good for a harder sound.

I ordered them from PJS Music and they arrived safely today, great service and under £20! I have given them a test run today, and I like them a lot. They do not seem to be very well known in UK, but I reckon they are well worth checking out.

Wincent make nice quality stuff but in todays world anything over 2 quid is regarded as expensive.

I tried introducing Wincent brushes and hot rods but demand was low?

I like Wincent Hot-Rods and on the strength of that I've looked into their sticks, but due to a lack of stockists I have yet to try them. I'm considering a blind buy of a couple of different sizes off ebay (When they come up) to sate my curiosity.

£19.48 with shipping and a look and feel of real quality, not bad! Hoping to have a jam with a couple of mates after work tonight so I will see how good they are

Jam was postponed until last night, and just one friend there, on acoustic steel string guitar, a cheap and noticeably quiet one. The Wincent brushes are VERY nice, fantastic balance and control of rhythm and dynamics (important when playing very quietly but wanting to bung in some exciting syncopations and accents!) They are longer and heavier than my old brushes but really nice to play.
As they are so controllable I was able to forget about my hands, and shuttle my left foot between hihat and multi-pedal for occasional beats on one of its wood block/clave sounds, to great approval of guitarist. Quality, I reckon they are the Sonor of brushes!

I missed the opportunity to get three pairs for £50 a while back... three weights of wire, too. I gotta pick some up soon as my go-to Regal Tips are somewhat beaten up! The Wincents felt really nice in the hand and sounded even better on the snare.

It saddens me that many British people seem to ignore some great European brands and make US and Far East their "Go To".

Quality products are pushed aside in the desire for cheap goods these days.
I focus on Pros who understand the difference in quality between brands.

We have a shopfitting contract at Harrods and House of Fraser where many are prepared to pay for quality and service.

The Regals were only my 'go to' because they were the first and only recommended pair I own! I think someone on here recommended them to me, actually...

Ah, that's a big part of it, the big companies in USA and the Far East get big sales, so therefore many more recommendations, so due to the recommendations new buyers get influenced to go to the same big companies, who then get bigger and even more recomendations!

I am not saying they should not, or that there is anything bad about those companies' products, just trying to make a few people aware that this is another good choice! (IMO)

I have a ton of Wincent sticks and brushes. They are very good. They also make longer sticks which I prefer.

In addition, I was on holiday in Sweden a couple of years ago and discovered we were near the Wincent factory. I emailed them and they gave me and my family a tour of the factory. It was fabulous and very geeky. My wife still teases me about it!

The only problem I have is that I have loads of 5Bs and I've started using a much lighter stick. Maybe I should put them in the for sale section.
