I'm looking at one on Ebay right now, and the general consensus is that it's a versatile ride. I need one of those, but I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on that particular chunk of bronze. Price is $275, which is pretty good over here.

Anyone?

Chaarrs, matey. I don't do much loud, so that's not a problem. Will be looking a little closer at this one.

I tried one out in a shop on the demo kit whilst auditioning many rides, I liked it, but it had a prominent under-note that I thought could almost clash with a chord. It may have just been the one I played, but I don't want my cymbals to sound like a note!

i have heard an amazing one and a not so amazing one, like all cymbals they differ so much, sabian though i think are the most consistent within their product lines. The memphis ride is a lovely medium ride. Depends also what sticks you play?

I loved the one I used at a gig (shared kit). Worked really nicely for jazz...

I guess that's the problem with ebay, you can't demo the product before you splash out. It's a case of hit and hope...

I use Pro Mark 5BGW most of the time, but for jazz I'll either use the Vater Ball Cymbal stick, or an SD4 maple of some variant.

I ended up giving this one a miss, since I had spend that "spare" cash on responsible things, like new tyres for the car... it's part of being a grown-up, I suppose... Never mind, there's always next time.

that is the problem, i bought a K custom dry ride some time ago on the bay, thinking cant go wrong with a K but woaaah momma it was a shocker. It went straight back on ebay....lesson learnt! as for the sticks the memphis rides that i have heard have been quite lively, despite their appearance, so a small tipped stick would definitely be required for that lovely jazz ting ting ta-ting.

But how much did you pay on Ebay in the first place? Im guessing at least half off the shop price? Therefore you stick it straight back on Ebay and if you are unlucky you may lose £20, and if you are lucky, you make £20.

Not alot to pay for being able to try a cymbal as long as you want, in your own set-up, and with/without band etc...

Im not saying Ebay is brilliant as their fee's are excessive, but its a small price to pay for being able to try out alot of gear at your own leisure.

Read a review in modern drummer that said it was a really good all purpose ride.

Heard one in a store last week, and I thought it was a kind of throwback 60's A kind of vibe, with a 7 a nylon tip it had lots of nice wash, was very responsive to light playing, and it crashed pretty well for a ride, and it crashed fast,I mean really quick.
