Wedding last night, and the B & G asked us if we could possibly change their first dance tune they'd requested from whatever it was to "Heaven" by Bryan Adams. This is half an hour before we start playing. "Anyone know "Heaven", lads?" A chorus of "No" assailed my ears. Right, so - iPod, internet, youtube, listen listen listen learn learn learn...I'll need to boil my earphones today to sterilise the feckers after passing them round the band like a lapdancer at a Premier League after-match party...anyway, we nailed it, luckily, and had a great night.
Yer man Bryan Adams has a great voice, even if you're not too keen on a lot of his stuff. So Mr Adams (Bryan, not Gerry) is this month's Guilty Pleasure in Castle Mully.
You may now carry on.

It's surprising what can be done when the mindset is positive and everybody is up for it! I remember playing that tune 5 nights a week for 6 months back in the 80s. Never got bored it, unlike most of the other stuff. Steve Smith is on the original recording as I remember..

| Yeah, Bryan Adams has some great stuff. He has a great long-time drummer in Micky Curry too. |

Mully... has the sun got to you or what? Surely the Mully we know and love would have told 'em to go **** themselves! Tell 'em, getting married is something you only do 3 or 4 times in you life!
If they change their minds that easily I give it 6 months.. tops!
Have a word with yourself Mully, and stop all this 'pro attitude'. You are a disgrace to the forum.
Rant over!

| Playing at a rather classy dinner/dance a few years back (piano/bass/drums) and some bloke comes up and says "Can't you play any Quo?". Shook him rigid when we played our 'Quo' medley! Surprising what you can do with a simple piano/bass/drums setup. |

For a wedding some 12 years ago, we (the covers band) were asked in advance to learn Clapton's Wonderful Tonight which happened to be the brides' mum's fave tune. Didn't like the thought of playing that, but we did a special "acoustic" job on it -- no drums and me playing one of those electro-acoustic stringy things. We developed it into the long concert arrangement (with drums of course) that Clapton did at the Albert Hall concerts and that is now my guilty pleasure. Love playing that. |
