I was (well, still am) fixing up another Aqua shimmer Prem, but couldn't resist buying this recently for a quick refurb. The kit came with a cheap snare, hardware and cymbals so they were quickly sold on, leaving me to concentrate on cleaning up the Oly.

It was in pretty good nick, but still required a complete strip down to clean up properly. I won't bore you with all the details, if you're interested I've put a wee write-up and more pics on my site:

I've said it before but I was never a fan of mahogany duroplastic (well, it's just brown innit?!) until Dug posted some of his kits, and now having fixed this one up myself, I really love the finish and it's certainly not 'just' brown, there are almost reds and golds in there too depending on the light! A lot less lugs to polish than Premiers aswell, which was nice

Here she is

I've got thre of these in this finish in the Oly series, mate, cracking job, and a beauty to behold. I also noticed that she's up for grabs on Ebay, so if any of you sniffers fancy this, then gerron it!!

I've had about 5 of those kits in various finishes. you really can't go wrong with them if you want a functional, no nonsense gigging kit. the Mahog duro grows on me

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Haha Dug, well spotted on eBay, no mahogany duro gets past you eh!!! I'm at 'critical mass' regards drumkits, just one kit away from a divorce, but I like to keep busy and breathe a bit of life into an old kit so couldn't pass this one up when I saw it. I'm not kidding when I say I had to smuggle this into the house!!

This is the first complete Oly I've had and although it is indeed light, it's definitely a quality kit, so simple but full of character. I'm really quite taken with it and if I get a bigger house or new wife I may just look for one to keep!

David, the shells are every bit as nice as any Premiers I've had, in fact better than some!! They did indeed have various stamps inside, I meant to take a note of the numbers before reassembly but forgot. All the badges are serial-numbered but fairly random as expected. That picture, that's the very kit indeed, gorgeous! (Do you mind if I use your dates and that picture in my auction?)

No problem Bjorn use the info if you want. You can usually see the numbers through the badge grommet.
