tl;dr - I want a new strainer or (preferably) just a butt plate for my ffs

Hi,

I have a 14x5 brass free floating snare fitted with an sr-1000f glide-lock strainer which comes as standard with this snare.

My problem is that while I'm playing the throw-off bit throws itself off, thus removing the snare wires from my reso head and making me look like an idiot on stage.

The final straw was at a gig last weekend when it decided to do this half way through apache, which is mostly snare patterns.

I tried some wd-40 which lessened the problem but still didn't solve it properly.

I would like to find something like this to replace the throw-off. I know this means I won't be able to remove the snare wires from the bed but I never do this anyway, I'd rather just have the simple reliability of a clamp.

Does anyone know where I can find such an item? The one pictured is curved, but on my snare the bit it would clamp on to is flat

My local pearl stockist contacted pearl for me but was told they couldn't supply the part. I also emailed pearl asking if they could sort it out under the pearl lifetime warranty but they emailed me back saying i wasn't american enough to benefit from the warranty

haha ok so diy dad got hold of it and found that the tiny little pin inside the strainer had snapped and this is what was causing the problem

so he drilled a big old hole through the lever and i can now screw the lever to the mount. no way that's going anywhere like that!
