I need some advice.
A bag containing mics and leads was stolen from our band on Saturday night. The problem is 70% of the mics and leads in the bag are mine and Iv already given my notice in to leave the band.
I have to say I wasn't in control of th bag the night it went missing. I feel a little stuck in the middle because I'm personally looking to loose £400+ and the rest of the mics/leads (£200+) are share owned between 4/5 people.
They have made a band decision to use the money from the gig Saturday (£400) to buy the necessary leads/mics to keep the band gigging. I can understand this but if I'm honest it's likely that it's me tat will loose out.
What would you do? |

| How long ago were they bought? Is that "£400+" a written-down (depreciated) price, or new? What would you have done had they not been lost? |

That's a hard one. It all depends on what kind of terms you are with the rest of the band. If possible, get together with them and have a chat, and suggest a compromise, like from the £400 gig money, you get half to replace some of your gear, and they get half to begin buying some gear which they'll need to keep the band going as you say.
It really depends on whether the relationship is still good enough to negotiate something like this, and probably most importantly, also depends on whether they saw 70% of those mic and leads as belonging to YOU, as opposed to belonging to the band. Good luck with it! |

| Can you claim it on your household contents insurance as goods temporarily away from home? The insurers may try to wriggle out of it if they view it as business assets rather than personal belongings but can't hurt to try. If they don't pay out it shouldn't affect your premiums. |
