Is it possible? I didn't use the adhesive foam when I fitted it so it's just clicked in place.
I'd like to try the Kickport that's sitting on the shelf next to me and don't want to knacker the head or the Holz if I can help it.
Any tips? |

| I used my Kickport over the Holz ring - it protected the edges of the hole when the rubber "flange" on the kick port was being squeezed through it. Sorry, I know it's not answering your question. |

| I'm sure I read somewhere when they were first brought out that ideally you'd mount it over a holz ring specifically to protect the edges of the hole so I can't imagine it affects the sound to any discernible degree. They subsequently started including an adhesive ring for you to stick on your head both as a cutting guide and as protection for the edges so you didn't have to worry about whether you had the holz ring or not. |

| What about all of the developments during Buddy's career? Did the drummer's before him need them? |

Nothing has changed in drumming over the years...but marketing and a deep insecurity has!!
A kit is a kit...virgin bass drum v tom mount etc..all nonsense.
If you can improve the drum sound and speed of 60s Motown recordings on old Ludwig & Gretsch kits I'll eat my stock!!
We are costantly chasing our tails..well I'm not!!

I'm pretty sure if Buddy told his band to play quieter they did as he ordered...not like my lot who pretend to twiddle knobs...
For my part I'm just a bored gadget wh0re!
