I usually purchase Promark TX5AW sticks from sticksdirect http://www.sticksdirect.com and was wondering if this is still the cheapest known online store including postage?
I want to buy 3 x Vic Firth 5A American Classic wood tips and 3 x Promark TX5AW wood tips. I've seen either of these sticks slightly cheaper at other places but when their postage is added, it works out more than sticksdirect. So, I'll buy from sticksdirect unless anyone can shout me another good place? At sticksdirect, it will cost £46.50 + £5 delivery = £51.50 (which averages out £8.58 per pair).

Cheers.

How particular are you? There's a few places that sell unbranded ProMarks. drumshop sell them in sets of 10 for less than £3 a pair. Or you could venture a trial of 3 pairs from rockem

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Drumsticks-Pro-Mark-B-Stock-3-PACK-UNBRANDED-BUT-GREAT-VALUE-USA-HICKORY-5A-/400302296201?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Drums_Percussions_MJ&hash=item5d33e04c89#ht_2706wt_1278

Though as the ad says you're never guaranteed what tip style you will get other than them being wood!

I used to use the same Vic Firth Stick as you but swapped to the Vic Firth Nova's which I buy in bricks of 12 pairs for about £4.50 a pair. They're as durable (for me anyway) as the A grade sticks.

I have them in the past, they're ok but I wouldn't put them on a par with Novas, quite. For the price you quote though they are a good investment. Where are they currently available for that money?

Thanks guys. I know nothing about Pellwood sticks, but the price is very good. How do they compare in feel and quality to top of the range sticks? Are they better for instance than standard cheapo sticks like ones I buy for my students at £4 a pair at my local shop, such as stagg sticks for example? And those novas, while nice and cheap, do they really feel as good and last as long as the american classics, or do you simply get what you pay for? I realise even the most expensive sticks can sometimes break quickly depending on the grain, but, sticks need to feel quality in my hands, which Promark 5A's and VF American Classic 5A's do.

dibs, thanks for the ebay link matey, but I'd rather pays my monies knowing exactly what I'm getting, ie, matched pairs!

julian, my email client is re-installed and I've shot you a mail. I'm curious what you're going to suggest/offer. Cheers!
