"Director Danny Boyle has revealed that his London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony plans will see the Olympic Stadium resembling “the British countryside”, featuring farmyard animals and the village cricket team.

The director dubbed the £27million opening ceremony, which takes place on July 27th, “green and pleasant” with the aim of creating “a picture of ourselves as a nation”."

mmn...British or just English?

I would say much of Scotland is green and plesant, as is Wales and the English coutryside. N iron, too, is rather pleasant in terms of greenery, so erm, British, I suppose.

The theme is meant to evoke William Blake's poem Jerusalem, " Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land."
Perhaps you missed the connection or your green and pleasant specs coloured your judgement?:)

I read that he was taking the ****. He, and everyone involved, is sworn to secrecy. This is Danny Boyle we're talking about here, if they wanted 'green and pleasant' there are a lot of people more qualified to supply that.

I want to know how the 900 dancing nurses fit in to all this.
