I did make me laugh when the PM announced yesterday that a referendum on Europe was possible. Was this perhaps to move the banking fiasco down the news slots. I know I'm getting more cynical as I get older but I believe they are all in it together, regardless of the colour of their tie in the house or the financial house they work for. It's a bit like an eBay scam, only bigger. Was there ever a financial crisis?? Could it have been manufactured by the world banks and politicians? |

I think the same about Barclays as I do all the other banks. They are all the same to me. If he knew what was going on, he should resign and if he didnt know, he should still resign, because he should have known what was going on in his own organisation. It sounds like one of those deniable operations, ie do what you must, but if it goes tits up you are on your own. Just make sure there is no trail back to senior management. Governments do it with their secret services all the time. The thing is that even if he does go, he will go with his megabuck bonus and zillion pound pension. Some quality jail time is what they need. |

Why is it that I have known since Mrs Thatcher de-regulated the Banks that something like this would happen? Even though I do not follow the news much and have little interest in Economics, and there are thousands more like me. Successive governments have given the banks unlimited power and unfettered greed.
Scandalous. |

As a bank officer myself, as the BBC has very clearly stated, can I please remind you that those responsible and involved are a select group of individuals in a select division of the investment arm of the bank (not retail) and potentially equivalent divisions in other banks.
More than once this week, my colleagues and I have been tainted with the same brush because we are "bankers". The similarities between us and them are that we are employed by a bank. Not even close, by any other standards.

Yes, of course, Josh, I have every sympathy with the frontline staff, I've seen a couple reduced to tears by customers caught up (like myself) in the RBS/Ulster Bank "technical glitch". I did say "banks", not "bank staff". Now, having said that, I've lost count of the times over the years that I've been looked down at sniffily by some bank assistant manager when I've gone in to try to sort an overdraft or loan. Yet all the time, the f**kers (banks) were robbing us blind with mis-sold PPI, extortionate charges, and now there's inquiries into interest rate manipulation. My distrust of banks and financial organisations has never been greater, and then when some smug ultra-rich f**ker comes on the telly using the now standard "Tony Blair" hand movements designed to reassure us that all is well, my blood boils even more. In an interview about the Ulster Bank fiasco, a spokesman from the Ulster Bank said on't'telly the other day (I'll paraphrase) that "the important thing is that we're working round the clock to sort this mess out". No, dumbass, the important thing is that your customers are being hugely inconvenienced, some are having to cut short holidays because of the inaccessibility of funds, some are having to queue up for ages to get THEIR money, some can't pay their bills....

There is no trust when it comes to money everyone wants more and more.Like ive been saying but not many on here backed me up. My be its because i cannot spell so there for i must be wrong. Well i am not wrong if you look afew years ahead. The truth i don't give a feck about other countrys untill we are back on track with ours then we can help more if needed but the money never gets to where it should be going.
Now you all can see what ive been going on about in the last 4 years you must know what the future is going to look like. If you don't agree with me this time then fine.

As I have stated many times ..if you get the chance to stiff a bank then do so before they stiff you.
A bunch of jumped up ****s.The Govt should have nationalised the banks rather than gift them a lifeline.Any other business would have gone to the wall allowing banks, receivers and their ilk to pick over the bones.
The Govt hand the banks a ready made fortune by allowing them to charge for cash withdrawals after forcing companies to pay salaries direct to 'supposedly' reduce the black economy. We get shafted on a daily basis.
I can't wait for the next move which will probably be that the Federal Bank of America will help us out ...The Federal Bank is a misleading title which infers that it is similar to the Bank of England but is actually nowhere close.

Time to return to being a cash society perhaps, stop relying on credit, and read the bank statements. Live within your means and don't rely on anyone else to look after your interests as they will be too busy looking after their own.

Into Monday now, and STILL our account is showing a zero balance even though there was well over two grand paid in over the past ten days. More hassle for me later, I'll have to contact everyone from our mortgage provider to our insurance people to our utility companies so I can let them know what's going on. We don't know if our DDs are going to be paid or not. It is an appalling disgrace.

im gobsmacked how this can happen and no one will have to face legal action.
If (for example) a staff member of a bank somehow managed to find a way to transfer funds to there own personal account then that person would be jailed. (btw this has actually happened before)
The people involved in this scandal are lining there own pockets on a much higher scale and it seems stepping down is as big a punishment as they are going to get.
Until we get tough with them they will always find another way to manipulate the system knowing if there luck runs out they just walk away. |

You will never contain the goings on in big business as board directors of all large companies and banks have inter-married,attended Uni together or are former colleagues all helping each other as in the old boy network. No different than groupies at gigs desperate for money, notoriety and a meal ticket for life..
The bonus culture should be eradicated also as it promotes lack of morals in achieving goals and targets.
Once you agree your salary then that is it...if you cannot meet reasonable targets then you get the boot. The same pain should be inflicted upon bank officials as is inflicted upon helpless mere mortals on a daily basis by heavy handed banks in repossessing homes to make a killing and to impress their bosses.
Banks control market forces and when they decide to make another killing ...watch out.!!
Banks go skint and managers have the cheek to tell you how to run a business despite never having run one with any personal investment of their own..because as usual someone else picks up their losses!! |

I finally got my £115 from RBS, but only after invoking section 1 of the Old Pals Act and getting my niece who is a branch manager to track it down and put it into my account. I feel sorry for the front line staff as it's not their fault, but they have to face the irate public. She was on the verge of quitting last week such was the stress.

As a counsellor friend of mine has said recently, Most heads of multinationals are phsycopaths, they have no moral compass and if not running these companies, would be incarcerated.
Quote:
What is A Psychopath?
Psychopaths cannot be understood in terms of antisocial rearing or development. They are simply morally depraved individuals who represent the "monsters" in our society. They are unstoppable and untreatable predators.
Their emotionlessness reflects a detached, fearless, and possibly dissociated state, revealing a low-state autonomic nervous system and lack of anxiety. It's difficult to say what motivates them - control and dominance possibly - since their life history will usually show no long-standing bonds with others nor much rhyme to their reason.
They tend to operate with a grandiose demeanor, an attitude of entitlement, an insatiable appetite, and a tendency toward sadism. Fearlessness is probably the prototypical (core) characteristic (the low-fear hypothesis). It's helpful to think of them as high-speed vehicles with ineffective brakes. Unquote |

Well that's Bob gone. There's things you can blag your way out of and times you just have to admit your position is untenable. He couldn't ride that out. If he didnt know what was going on, he should have. David Cameron looks as if he's been up all night.

Quite right too, but I was SURE that the government and banking industry would ensure he stayed there and carefully cushion him from criticism, I figured they were making Marcus Magius the fall guy to save Bob. You need to define what you mean by "banker", Kev. There are low-paid staff in banking organisations, and there are also people making a fortune.

The general public have no beef with regular bank staff who are also harassed by their bosses to sell insurance for a small commisson to meet targets so their boss can enjoy his elevated status at head office. My only beef with banks is when you are dismissed by them until you do not need their help and then they come running with lunch requests to jump on the gravy train.
The public does have a huge beef with the casino boys in braces who take huge risks with capital invested with them as per Nick Leeson days. These people are boastful, jumped up barrow boys who are desperate for the high life of champagne and cars because they are 'better than the rest of us'. As a radio jock once said 'Why would you risk your hard earned cash with a Yuppie desperate for a new Mercedes?'
Taking a punt with someone else's cash is about the easiest job you can have as you only lose your job if it goes wrong as opposed to running your own business where they insist that you move back into a bedsit and divorce your entire family in payment for being a reckless, misguided buffoon.
There are some good people in banking with morals and a desire to do their best.It is time to reduce the risks of being turned over and shafted by the Big Four who raise the bar when they need to increase profits.
Personal Banking and Risk Capital should be separated by legislation and the threat of prison to those that cross the line.Investments are a risk..if you want to chance it then do so,but with your own money.
Let's start with not charging at cash machines to draw your own money out. These cash points were originally introduced to reduce queues in the banking halls and to save on staff due to automation...

You need to define what you mean by "banker", Kev. There are low-paid staff in banking organisations, and there are also people making a fortune.
