I would like an Antonov An 225 Mriya please, the groupies are getting a bit crowded; I had a feeling the Airbus A 380 would be too small. And send it by recorded delivery as I would be gutted it if the Royal Mail were to loose it.
Have a great time and get some nice photos for us to see!

Nice. The one I flew was burgundy and silver, and soon after my flight it was on Coast when they were looking at the pre-Radar concrete "Listening Ears" near Dungeness. An open cockpit aircraft is REAL flying. I fancy a ride on one of Ken Wallis's Autogyros, ideally Little Nell, as used in the James Bond film.

We have a de H Rapide flying over us most Summer weekends, based at Duxford. The sound of Frank Halford's Tiger engines is SO distinct I know what it is without needing to look.

Just got back. Remarkably, exactly the same as two years ago except I had a nice lunch in the Thales pavilion (should be village - four storeys high!) complete with wine and smoked salmon (don't you know.)

Saw Saab's Gripen doing it's thing. (Pretty impressive actually.)

Branson now has a stand there (Virgin Galactic) along with a space-plane outside.

Anyone going this week, take a brolly!

Was that a B52 that went over ?
Was in work and I only heard it but it sounded like it had more than four engines.

^ Apparently yes, a flypast at 10 am.

It seems that Embraer is planning to announce a VTOL airliner, and hints that it might be like an up-dated Fairey Rotodyne, the most exciting aircraft ever when I was about 5!

A VTOL airliner ?
Are you sure ?
The concept isn't making a whole lot of sense to me.

I found a link to the B 52 yesterday and amongst other items it mentioned that Brazilian maker Embraer was planning a VTOL airliner, and commented that it might be a modern version of the Rotodyne, I should have posted the link as I cannot find it today, doh!

Here is a link to a new film (from History Channel) about the development and use of the Fairey Rotodyne, whose speed records still stand I believe. It has 4 parts and I hope to find time to watch them all soon. A fascinating machine by any standards, but very noisy. Like many others I cannot help but feel that apart from noise the basic Rotodyne concept and lay is FAR superior to the ridiculous, flawed, crash-prone and massively over-budget Bell V22 Osprey. Like so many other advanced British projects I believe the Rotodyne was actually cancelled by pressure from USA rather than the stated noise concerns.

Odd, your post was not showing when I posted mine, nor when I re-visited this morning, but here you go...small world and all, the Airfix Rotodyne kit I made a few years back:
