Brilliant day, all thanks to Rick and Karen, and all their little helpers. It's always great to catch up with forum friends too, though I don't think I saw everyone who was there. Had a lovely refreshing walk in the morning, which set me up nicely for breakfast and beer, then ended up back at the pub again later! What a noise, what amazing kits, and what an incredible achievement.

Yes, great to meet a few more of you all including OA's latest alter ego! (I'm assuming it was an alter ego). As Wendy says, some gorgeous kits on display and the racket was unbelievable- I accidentally pulled out one of my earplugs during a practice run and honestly thought I'd burst an ear drum.

Totally knackered when I got home and still this morning, feels a bit like a hangover despite no beer. Anyway, all in a good cause.

What a day!!!!!!!!!!!

Can someone please stop the drums in my head?

Massive respect to Rick and Karen. Can't begin to imagine how many hours they put in to organising the event. Much thanks too to all the other event staff.

Great to catch up with some Dolbearinas though I fear I missed several. Particularly Kato who I have not seen for such a long time.

This morning I feel like I've been gently, but firmly and quite thoroughly, mugged. According to the present Mrs M, I slept through the racket made by a circling helicopter for a significant part of the night. Work from home today, I think.

Well done all - I couldn't be involved this time. I did the one in 2009, so was a little gutted to no longer be part of the record holders (if it hadn't already been broken), but well done anyway! You record snatchers!

I had a smashing day. Despite having a 21 hour day and nearly 9 hours of driving, it was a fantastic spectacle to be a part of again. Well worth it! OA is definitely right in saying that it was more for the younger generations - I had one of my pupils with me (as well as my best mate) and he absolutely loved it - he was running round the Trafford Centre bouncing off the walls.

Great to see forum friends again, and great to see the lengths that some people had gone to to raise money for a fanstastic cause.

The only down point of the day for me was it was a little drawn out..... it seemed very long winded and there was a long build up. However that might have been because I'd been up over 14 hours by the time we did the record! The PA could have been a lot louder as no one could really hear the songs being played (and I was only in the 2nd row!).... oh, and next time maybe get people to read up about what "QUIET TIME" means!

Fantastic day and proud to be part of it all again.

It was so nice putting faces to names, even though I'm sure I haven't remembered everyone even now! I think we need properly tagged photographs!

It was a lot of fun but I'll echo that the words 'Quiet time' seemed to have been missed from most people's vocabulary!

Can't wait for the next shin dig!

We all had a great time but were glad to get back home. Mrs Prog and I slept on a small, uncomfortable airbed on Saturday night as her sister and her fiancé had our bed because they were looking after Merlin on Sunday. Consequently, we only had a few hours' sleep so our own bed felt amazing last night.

We're both knackered today but Iziah is full of energy, partly because he's young but mainly from the experience of yesterday. It was his first non-school 'gig' and the first time his kit has left the house so it's no wonder he's still grinning today.

If SITMS happens again, I suggest that all staff are issued with cattle prods for quiet time.

^^^ Cattle prods!
...either that or whips!...

The family Prog sitting and drumming next to each other together was one of the things that made me smile the most yesterday! You are all stars and to fit the 3 of you and the 3 kits into your one car was quite miraculous!

It struck me on the day that, with 800 drummers set up it would've been brilliant to try a 'Mexican wave' of tom rolls from one side of the hall to the other, even round in circles. I reckon it'd be quite easy to organise and would sound pretty amazing, especially from the stage. Maybe next time....

BTW, congrats and thanks to Rick and Karen and all the others who must have put so much effort into the day. The registration, load in, T-shirt collection etc all worked really well especially given the sheer numbers involved.

Top day with the usual suspects, the crack Dolbear construction team swarming over my mates Oly to get it set up in no time was a joy, you guys just appeared from nowhere!! I had a good look around and yep, the only black shadow reso in the gaff, lovely stuff!! I had to put OA's shoes on as he was armoured up. The night before Fen tiger billeted up at castle darkside and we had a knockout curry and a few light ales, in practice for the NDF ritual slaughter of the tandooried humpback... Roll on september!!

Hi all fellow World Record holders! I would've commented earlier, but had to go to work as soon as I got home on Sunday, and have been working away from home.
Great to see some of you again, meet some new forumites and have a good old sniffing session!!
What a fantastic day, I was so proud to be a part of it all, a real sense of achievemnet, well done to everyone involved, in front and behind the scenes!

One of my personal favourites of the day was the selfish p***k in front of me trying to be flash and play like Robin Guy, by throwing his sticks in the air but failing to catch them, (I could do that all day long) and constantly ad libbing throughout the record attempt and practically a beat in front of everyone else, all of which was very off putting, finally pushed his luck too far and smashed his knuckles on the rim of his snare, causing his knuckles to bleed....... ha ha, what a shame!!

Rant over!

Hopefully see you at the NDF

Thanks for asking Beez but we couldn't make it, me and the Mrs had a gig's all weekend (they had beeen booked well in advance so couldn't cancel), Jamie had work so we were gutted not to go. Plus the last time i looked it was fully allocated, you had to go on a reserve list.

I'm so pleased everyone had a great time and did a tremendous job, well done everybody it's a fantastic experience. Hopefully i'll catch you out and about somewhere soon.
