...in the world, why the feck does the BBC use crappily-drawn CGI "athletes" in their Olympic ads?
I don't know, but I think we should be told.
That is all. Carry on.

| Bit strange, realistic looking but managed to stay the more cartoonish side of the uncanny valley, mind |

| Its cheaper to draw an imaginary character than hire in the real thing. CGI has improved so much in the last few years - anyone seen TinTin for example - that soon the industry won't need actors, just geeks sitting in darkened rooms staring at computers all day. Celebrity will be a thing of the past, personally I can't wait. |

I wonder if there will ever come a point where they use a cgi person to play different roles in different films. Like your regular Hollywood actor, but who only exists as a computer program. |
on second thoughts, ignore what I just said |

| Perhaps they felt that showing real athletes might look like favouritism or bias. |

A film was made with this as its plot. It's alright. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0258153/ |

Theres a really good thread on the West Ham supporters forum highlighting the 'Ladies of the Olympics'. Nice photos, naughty comments, but nice photos. |

They've had wooden actors in soaps for many years! and of course, Roger Moore, much as I love him |
