I have always liked simple old pedals but of course they are already a bit knackered when you get them and tend to need a fair amount of maintainance to keep them going.
Having tried to get on with DW 5000s Pearl eliminators etc I keep hitting a brick wall with them and going back to old speed kings and such like.
So after reading the blurb and watching the vids I thought I would try this new Sonor perfect balance out, I tried it and it felt good so I bought one. I gigged it for the first time yesterday and am very impressed with it, the speed I could get from it was amazing, it is the smoothest, most natural feeling pedal I have ever used.
I am sure there are many it won't suit but if you are looking for a new pedal I would say it is well worth a try, it has made me a very happy bunny. |

| How much do they retail for? I'm not interested as I'm happy with my 5K, but if I win the lottery or come into some money I need to spend, I could be interested :D |

| They are 199 big ones, so not cheap, but then 5000s aren't far off that and others are dearer still, they are lovely quality. |

Definitely want to try one, but not sure we will get along! are they quite heavy?
No they aren't heavy at all, they also fold pretty flat and have a carry bag that keeps them from getting scratched in your hardware bag. |

| A major aspect of the design brief was to keep mass to a minimum and make it fold compactly, harking back to some of the great vintage pedals. |

| It feels like a vintage pedal Marcus, the strap gives it a very free feel I'm not a lover of chains so it really suits me, the only downside I can see it having for some is it is not as powerful as some modern pedals so if high volume is your bag it may not be for you |

| It's great to hear good comments about this pedal. I've been keen to look at one, but they are expensive. I'm looking into the 'Direct Drive' options at the moment. Anyone got any recommendations? I hear the Mapex Falcon and obviously the Demon Drive are good. |

The demon drive is even dearer, obviously everybody has their own budget for equipment, when I was looking for some hardware to use with a vintage kit a few years back I eventually decided on DW 6000 range, it looked right and was light ish. It cost a fair amount more than the other options but 4 kits later I am still using it and it still works and looks great.
I try to look for value for money rather than anything else, drum gear takes a literal beating, it needs to be well built and function well.
I have always found Sonor to be well engineered and excelent quality |

| Finally ditched my DW5000 earlier this year in favour of a Pearl Eliminator. The 5k had a super-smooth action and the build quality was fantastic but I just found it heavy and it should've suited my heel/toe playing but just didn't no matter how I fiddled with the settings. The Eliminator I immediately got on with and having fiddled around with the different cam profiles it came with (three, I think), etc., have it just right. I just seem to have an affinity with Pearl's pedals - I remember my standard issue Pearl Export pedal many moons ago being fab to play. The Mapex Falcon is excellent too. |
Yamaha 9000, '64 L400/Yamaha 8000/Yamaha brass/Premier XPK/Pearl brass piccolo snares, Zildjian A and A Custom dustbin lids, Pearl Eliminator double pedal, Roc 'n' Soc stool and a total lack of practice. |

I got a strap based pearl from a forum kit. Smooth and fast, a very nice pedal. Round cams don't seem to allowing the powerful almost slingshot like effect of some cams where it seems to whip it into the drum, but they do have a great feel.
It cost around £10, but I wouldn't trade it!

| Off the subject of the JoJo pedal but still on the subject of pedals generally, I bought a Pearl Eliminator second hand even though I have an Iron Cobra. I love it, it's very powerful, robust and has a great 'connected' feel and so the IC has been relegated to spare now. I also frequently dig out my old Premier 250S which still delivers in spades and is gloriously simple, folds flat and has stood up to many years of use and still looks and works brilliantly. |
