I got asked to clean some gutters out. I went there about 2 miles and said £20 to clean front and back and unblock the downpipe. The women said she would get another qoute ?? Fine i leave and drive the other side of the town for me next job. About 1 hour later the women ring can i do it today i said no as i am now busy. She said this was the only day she would be in OMG is it my fault. Some times you just have to laugh and carry on. |

Why would anyone go to the bother of another quote for the sake of a couple of quid?
I'll give you a score to clean mine, Kev, but you'll have to make your own way here.

Gee Kev! 20 quid? , for 2 visits , I can't see how you're making a living being that cheap, unless you have at least five of these jobs a day, I think you could double that price and still be reasonable, of course don't put up your prices till you've done OA's job |

| Our secretary's husband is a window cleaner. He charges window cleaning with gutter cleaning for £100!!! I supose his usual window cleaning is about £10, but hey, if people will pay. DefinTELY UP YOUR PRICE! |

| I had a roofer come to mine to replace one cracked tile and a little bit of repointing on my ridge tiles. He was at the house about half an hour and charged £60 cash in hand which I was content with. He was up and down his ladders more times than I would ever dream about doing and was completely no fuss and no nonsense in his approach. I would expect to pay at least that kind of sum to have my gutters cleaned. |

I have 2 rules when it comes to DIY round my house. 1. NO fiddling with electrics ( apart from wiring a plug)
2. NO ladders higher than first floor.
So, I will pay whatever it costs for some other mug to put their life at risk.
Kev did work for my in the past as is very VERY good. Polite, efficient, tidy.........but way too cheap.
Kev me old mucker, up your prices dear boy. |

£20? £20?! For that I would pay for you to travel to London to do my gutters, charging time as well.
Sort your prices out, Kev. That's WAY too cheap. |

To be fair not being very good at spelling as been a nightmare. Scaffolding was the best job i could of had and i was very good at it. I got told there was not a job for me the day after Jordan got cancer????? been there about 15 years. Never go back to working for any one again but they has asked me back. I told them to feck off But after 4 years of setting my firm up it still just pays the bills and i am happy with that. £20 is cheap but i need the money and cannot afford to lose work and i swear i do lose jobs because everyone seem to be doing it now most have no insurance and don't pay tax.
When Jordan became ill we never had any money i blow the lot of drums but looking back it was the best thing i could of done. But we did get in a lot of debt and after 4 years of doing cheap jobs i have pay it off just a few little one left and things will start to become easier for us.
If ive got £100 left after bills i am rich

Good for you Kev.
Once you build a customer base you can gradually increase your prices.
Remember that anyone can clean a gutter,so the only difference is you! If they like and trust you then they will stay with you if good work, reliability and honesty are your traits.
It worked for me in my early days.It takes about 5 years for a business phone to ring regularly. |

Yes Kev, very true. Your outlook on life is worth the £20 to knock on someone's door, never mind getting work done.
Get Fiona, or a good friend to help you out with spelling when quoting for work if you really need to, better still get one of us from here to send you a template where all you have to do is type in the customers name and the fee. I'm sure you will get plenty of offers of help.
YOU'RE STILL TOO CHEAP THOUGH!!!!!
