Hi guys! Been off the forum for a few weeks and thought I'd say hi, I'm back, cooo-eee *waves*

We were off for a week camping in Aviemore, staying on a friend's farm in Dornoch, then up to West Mey, near Thurso for a day to visit friends there, then home to Paisley for a night before driving down to Leeds to visit family in-law and spend time with my mum-in law who is in the latter stages of alzheimers. The latter was heavy going, especially trying to explain to my 7 year old boy what's happening to Nana, but all in all it was a nice fortnight, with lots of travel and catching up with friends & family. And the weather was good to us too!

I've already seen I've missed SITMS and Mike's Olympic glory, just going to catch up in other posts now. As you were

Welcome back

We are now living with Mrs OA's mother, she has dementia which is very trying. though yesterday she rolls into the kitchen to announce that she is off to the sweet shop

Which one asks I

It's on the corner of Roberts Road!

The shop hasn't been there for over 50 years and the last time she went would have been about 60years ago, as well as it's a good five miles from where we live

However I did take her to the pub this afternoon and she enjoyed that

Thanks guys!

I wish you well with your mum-in-law OA. MrsT25's mum was at that stage about a year ago, it could be quite comical at times what she'd say or do (well, if you don't laugh you'll cry). But she's deteriorated to the point where she doesn't recognise anyone, is incontinent, can't get up or walk unaided, and is eating and drinking less and less. I guess the only the only saving grace is that she's probably not aware of much, and doesn't seem to be in any physical pain, but it's hard for the family. Good luck with Mrs OA snr.

The nice thing was I went for a pint with dad-in-law for the first time in 20 years. He's 83 and an alcoholic but now that bro-in-law is taking care of the finances he brings him a half-bottle every day so the drinking is regulated and he's actually in better form now than he's been in 10-20 years! Getting out of the house was a big thing for him and we sat in a beer garden having a couple of pints of bitter, with him telling me about Antigua, sailing to Plymouth, finding work in Leeds, and about his careers in the merchant navy and as an engineer for Rolls Royce. We both really enjoyed it and will do it again
