I'm looking for a place to get a bathroom suite (shower enclosure, shower unit, toilet, wash basin, taps, fittings, etc). I'm getting rid of the bath as I only have showers. It'll create more space too.

My neighbour says he uses Selco as they're good. I looked at the new bathroom he had done and it looks very nice. I checked their website but they're trade only. I don't suppose there's a way I can get a trade card? Builder I'm going to use doesn't have one. Anyone here used Selco and would I make a massive saving over the likes of B&Q?

I haven't been to B&Q to look at their stuff yet, going later. What could anyone here recommend as a good place (i.e, good prices and selection) to buy bathroom suite, materials, wall and floor tiles? For the bathroom suite I was thinking of up to around £500 for the units? And tiles, I dunno, £300? It's only a small bathroom, about 5' deep, 5' wide, 8' high. Only good thing about the small bathroom is that the adjoining kitchen is very big allowing drums to be set up there.

Have a look at Screwfix.

The sooner we lose the smiley faces from this forum the better.

Nice one guys, it just so happens the branch locators show several branches of screwfix and plumbcenter near to me. Screwfix prices look slightly better so far.

Best place for tiles? Topps tiles?

Yes, I have a Selco card and I could probably let you have the details if you want to go. They take the number from a mobile phone so no need for the actual card! I also have a B&Q Tradepoint card which discounts normal store prices on many items, as well as having a range of their own stuff.

We have used B&Q in the past as its handy for us, they deliver, and if there are any problems you can go back to the store. I'm sure other places do the same, however. Steer away from The Bath Store unless you have money to burn.

Hi Wendy. Heh, I went into the bath store the other week. You're right, very expensive! I'm interested in Selco still, yes. Can you let me have the details? That would be great. Did you find the prices much cheaper than the named stores?

Can't your neighbour get it as he uses Selco?

If they hand out trade cards to everyone we'll all be out of business like the drum shops!

Good point tbh. I'll go see what they have at selco tomorrow. If their trade prices are really good, I'll have a word with the neighbour.
He doesn't live there though, he's the owner of the house but rents it out.

Went to B&Q this evening. Their prices seem to be quite reasonable but their delivery times could be up to 10 days depending what they have in stock, and the builder will be starting next week. I found an online site called bellabathrooms which has got very good customer reviews and they deliver within 2 days. Toilet that I want (square shaped seat) and basin is cheaper than B&Q, but not their shower enclosures.

I own a property business, so am not just anyone, but the do seem eager to give out cards providing you can prove you are a trader of sorts. I'll PM you tomorrow.

If you have a Howdens up your way try them....it's a Trade Centre so you will need someone with a card.

Those with any sense and experience in the trade never buy from B&Q unless it is cash and carry.

Fortunately we use a local private trade warehouse where we buy our bathroom suites after a bit of negotiating takes place.

"How much"?

Not sure there's a Howdens here, not heard of them tbh. I'm in Selco, Cricklewood as I type this, and I've been told my drumming business card will suffice to get trade prices! Hope they don't mind looking at animal from the muppets.
