I noticed a friend of mine had an old acrylic sonor in the corner of a room, I have done a little bit of research on them and there isn't much info on the internet,

The sizes are 12,13,16,22 .. I think.. and they are a smoked colour,
most of the shell hardware seem to be intact, with no cracks, but havent had a chance to have a close inspection yet..

I told him that I would find out more about the kit, so do any of you know any more info about this kit and it's rough value?

I have offered to restore the shells my giving them a good clean, new heads and find missing hardware.

Thanks

Very nice. No idea of value, but less common than some. yup, I cannot remember their name for it, but certainly smokey looking.

Acryl: http://www.sonormuseum.com/1979/acrylics.html

They're pretty sought after (I'd love a set ), though not as valuable as Vistalites.

Sonor Acryls don't actually sell that well. They are heavier than other Acrylic kits, and the weight makes them prone to cracking around the tom mounts, floor tom leg brackets and bass drum leg brackets.

IIRC, the last one listed on Ebay didn't break the £200 mark. (But it did have a crack)

Thinking on it, they are the only vintage Sonor line I have never owned anything from.

better made than the Ludwig Vistalites from the 1970s well engineered drums Sonor, but i dont think they were as popular as Ludwigs, from what i can remember, good though and of course susceptible to cracking.

Indeed ...and influences too! Must add I didn't witness the tour ...it was before my gigging started, but the If You Want Blood album is an undoubted classic!
