I rang county council up to see if I could fill the ones near me in

Really this is true Devon council are getting volunteers to do it I seen the video and I would do it for free as I could do it as I do my job

Our change them £2 for every pot hole and give it to the local hospice ???
They are getting back to me
Let's see what they say

Knowing councils I wouldn't expect an answer quickly. It will be passed around from department to department with no one wanting to say yes!

On the other hand if you owe them money they are on you like a ton of bricks

Bl##dy good idea. Suggest you contact the local paper (such an initiative should make a good 'local interest' story) to put some pressure on the council to make a decision, otherwise they'll just be holding meetings to decide about holding meetings ...

This is such a great area and shows again what a selfless and community minded bloke you are.
But, and not wanting to put a downer on this, please think about how this could leave you exposed.
You fill in a pot hole. In six months it starts to breakdown and someone damages a car wheel/twists their ankle. They contact the council who say "nothing to do with us mate, see Kev, he fixed that one...." next thing is you have a no win no fee lawyer asking about you public liability insurance as their client wants to make a claim.....
It's a sad indictment on our society but if people can sue nurses for helping them in the street you risk making yourself a target.

If you wanted more space on stage you should have got here before me!

Well nows your chance to fill the biggest pot hole ever!!

The one that governs the law and the so called no win schemers!
Oh rest assured you could stir the whole of the uk with this one as both are just money making enterprises excelling there negative works for there own means!

Best of luck though and hope it makes them buck there ideas up!

They always complain that there's no jobs available, well there's a few thousand plus straight away, and they can be paid at highway rates of pay and sure there's plenty of overtime available with the task

Surely this is what we pay our Council Tax for?
Are they not legally obliged to repair?

It is but LOOK at the roads
not doing a great job of them and spending loads in the hidden scam well that's what I think it is

If they put one wagons and three blokes on it for 2 weeks solid I am sure things would be better
What they do is pay someone to drive around with yellow paint mark them and then think about it for a bit until the paint wears off

If we need to improve the country let's us do it I say

DThey revealed that since the Coalition came to power another 2,262 miles of local roads are now in such poor condition that they need maintenance work.

Labour said this distance is the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats and back again.

And it said the Department for Transport statistics show that 17 per cent of our local roads or more than 19,000 miles should be considered for maintenance work.

Shadow Transport Secretary Michael Dugher said: “Ministers need to take responsibility for the pothole epidemic on our local roads.

“Cameron slashed spending on road maintenance in 2010 and has ignored local roads for too long. Now over 2,220 miles more of our local roads need maintenance work.

“Motorists are justifiably sick and tired of their cars getting damaged because of potholes. It’s time to fix pothole Britain.”

This spring the Asphalt Industry Alliance said last year’s record wet winter had left Britain with a £12billion road repair bill – an increase of £1.5billion on the previous year.

It said there is a shortfall in local authorities’ road maintenance budgets while personal injury and vehicle damage rose by 20 per cent over the previous year.

....b****y pot holes - last year the car failed MOT with broken front spring. This year with broken rear spring - I feel it's no coincidence as the roads round here are appalling.....

They will not let me do it
But it is going to the high council meeting and the subject is being brought up so let's see

I would only do the holes that are safe for me to do and would do the same kind of repair they do
Bush hole bag of tarmac and a steel rod with a plate at the bottom hit till smooth
??????
I would do 10 a week soon adds up
