He was a bit before my time, but when I caught up with Hendrix I was hooked on his drumming and 'borrowed' heavily from it. I loved the double bass drums on Dolly Dagger, which if I remember correctly were black Gretsch. The drums on 'Experienced' and 'Axis' are sublime and I reckon should be compulsory listening for all aspiring young drummers.
I loved the guy.

Good read. I thought he was great especially on that first hendrix album. Interesting to hear he was being considered by miles davis.
