Is there such a thing as a compact electronic tempo device? At rehearsal I want to get an average of each band member's favourite song tempo, then note it on my set list, then have a quick reference look or listen at the metro before starting a song. Cheers.

If it helps the LiveBPM app measures song tempo so you can get a handle on which speed works best and then swap to something like Drummers Metronome which has an excellent visual metronome consisting of large colour blocks. LiveBPM cost a couple of pounds, I think Drummers Metronome was free.

Once I've hit it, it stays hit.

I second both of Mark suggestions. I use both regularly.

If you have an old phone you have replaced, you can use it as a dedicated metronome. I use my old LG G3.

For iPhone and ipad, don't know about Androids, Tempo and Tempo Adv. by frozen ape. Both do set lists.
For the quick work and free there's Smart Click by Steinberg (of Cubase etc).

When setting up the kit and playing one must put the carpet down before the furniture goes on top

Cheers Tex. Looks like I might have to get myself a smart phone, still have a Flintstone era mobile!

Captain, This is a very handy little device and compact. I have used it my self and it's a cheaper than a new phone.
