If you see a man walking the streets of Preston with a sign, "Will work for snare mechanism" please don't ignore him, I know he's a bit odd but the man means well and he needs a bloody mechanism by September.
Now pay attention, Reno Snare Mechanism and PRONTO!

all done walking round preston with a sign asking for something no ones ever heard of, however i just re applied to buy the reno's from NZ, and awaiting a reply,
ive also taken apart the 15" tom,and me and a joiner friend are going to try and make a new one from perspex, he makes it sound so easy,
DUG!!! if your watching pal, tx me that email for gary noonan, least i can do is get a price to get it done properley, ye i know it will be made from acrylic and not the lesser i mentioned, all i need is an acrylic shell to show the workings, just a clear shell, |

so looks like your all gonna see a makeshift perspex shell at the NDF,.
hey weve had over 4000 hits on this, looking for anything, RENO ,

Hey Brinzo - I don't know exactly what inner/outer diameters you need but have a look at this site - http://www.clearplasticsupplies.co.uk/acrylic_tube_clear.htm They have 400 external 390 internal which is just over 15" ........ Probably not what you need but thought I'd mention it just in case.

Thanks for that steve, looking at that link though gave me an idea, metric size of the shell is, int 375, ext 379, i was thinking of using the same 2mm shell size, but as long as the int measure is correct to take the inner rings and mech, i could use a thicker grade and machine the top and bottom outer edges to take the outer hoops the whole point of this is to show a working mechanism so the heads need to be on,
I know many of you guys cut down and do your own shells, any advise on what i just posted would be appreciated,
Paul,.

| At that particular time, to protect himself, he applied for the patent and put it on the badge. Eventually, it looks like he was granted the patent but obviously he couldn't go back and redo all the old badges, NOW, answer your bloody phone |

that tom from the bay turned up today in the post,
and my suspisions were confirmed, its another snare!!! 15x12 exactly the same as the last one i got , same wrap, and same added mounting, what i didnt say last time was there are three small holes at the top of the drum as well, and the same three on this one, im wondering if this was reno's attempt at a marching drum? the holes suggest to me a hook mount? however, would that have been in the same place on every drum as they usually are today, I even thought maybe it could have been an attempt at an internal damper but the internal mechanism is in the way, im totally stumpt, any thoughts are more than welcome please do not hesitate to post, ican put pics on if it makes it easier,
also im gonna need a strainer and butt, im sure i read a post the other day and someone saying they had loads of old obscure strainers etc,
many thanks, Paul,. |

My pc's been down as you know, (last time i follow dodgy links) and No i didnt do the NZ deal just yet, had 6 wks off work due to the sciatic nerve **stard sneaking up on me, so money etc that was allocated for them was swiftly taken in other directions, Spoke to doug the other day though and he's found the tuning key(handmade by jimmy reno) He's gonna take it to the NDF for me, hopefully along with the schematics, due to a clearout( good look on that one pal) Also ive had to scrap for now the idea of a pirspex tom, just for now, due to time issues, and am just gonna take the internal mech from a 14" tom, looks good out the shell and probs be easier for people to pick up and actually look at, OH, and no nesting season is nowhere near over, ha ha, tis good for mi back!!!! |
